"Common" Sense

A Texas school district is planning to let teachers bring guns to school:

The board of the small rural Harrold Independent School District
unanimously approved the plan and parents have not objected, said the district's
superintendent, David Thweatt.

School experts backed Thweatt's claim that Harrold, a system of about
110 students 150 miles northwest of Fort Worth, may be the first to let teachers
bring guns to the classroom.

Thweatt said it is a matter of safety.

"We have a lock-down situation, we have cameras, but the question we
had to answer is, 'What if somebody gets in? What are we going to do?" he said.
"It's just common sense."

Clearly this is a new and rather different definition of "common sense" of which I was previously unaware.

Ok... So parents don't have a problem with this? The question is, how long until a teacher ends up shooting a student? My guess is that it is going to happen soon.. Oh, and I love how he straight up says "It's just common sense," like it is completley normal..

This is Texas; you have to be careful not to apply our cultural norms to their way of life.

On the plus side, I suppose when the librarian tells kids to be quiet in the library...kids will be quiet in the library.

(Is that even a thing anymore? Getting shushed in the library? Do kids even spend a lot of time in library, or do they just look everything up on the interwebs now?)

Yes, they use the library, though it's not the cliche quiet-or-you-die scenario. At least at the Warren Township library, it's just naturally quiet there. 'Course, it's only people like me and a select few of my friends that use libraries.
